Scholars Press makes available the following public domain fonts at no charge:
- SPTiberian: A Hebrew font whose encoding scheme closely follows
that of the Michigan-Claremont
encoding scheme.
- SPIonic: A Greek font based on the
Thesaurus Linguae Graecae encoding scheme.
- SPAtlantis: A transliteration font that includes diacriticals and
other special characters that allow the representation of numerous
Indo-European, Semitic, and other languages.
- SPEdessa: A Syriac Estrangela font based on the Michigan-Claremont
encoding scheme.
All of these fonts are TrueType fonts, and each is available in both Windows
and Macintosh formats. They should work with most Windows and Macintosh
applications. There is no provision for right-to-left text entry for Hebrew.
The character sets follow those used by widely available
biblical and classical texts, so they can be used for viewing these texts.
Since separate diachritical marks are provided for narrow and wide characters,
the appropriate diacritical must be selected for the most attractive
printing. Combination diacritical marks (such as smooth breathing and acute
accent) are assigned to a single key.
Documentation is limited to a brief README file for each font set.
It is assumed that users know how to install Windows or
Macintosh fonts. The documentation fully explains the keyboard mapping
of each character set.
